Temporary Checkpoint Closures Set for Next Week at BWI Marshall Airport

New B/C Checkpoint a Good Option for Southwest and AirTran Travelers During Short-Term Closures of A and B Checkpoints

Next week, construction activity at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall) will require the temporary, short-term closure of the Concourse B and Concourse A security checkpoints on separate days. The two checkpoints serve airline gates for Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways.

The Concourse B security checkpoint at BWI Marshall is scheduled to be closed on Monday, June 3 from 1:00 p.m. until Tuesday, June 4 at 4:00 a.m. The checkpoint at Concourse A will remain open and available during the temporary closure of the B checkpoint.

The Concourse A checkpoint is scheduled to be closed on Tuesday, June 4 from from 1:00 p.m. until Wednesday, June 5 at 4:00 a.m. The checkpoint for Concourse B will be open and available during the temporary closure of the A checkpoint.

During the construction work next week, Southwest and AirTran passengers at BWI Marshall should consider using the Airport’s new B/C security checkpoint that opened last month. The new checkpoint is the largest at BWI Marshall, offering 9-lanes for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to inspect passengers and carry-on items. The new security checkpoint, located between Concourses B and C, serves all airline gates on Concourses A, B, and C.

BWI Marshall will provide customer service personnel and signs to provide directions to the new security checkpoint for travelers. The construction work next week has been closely coordinated with the TSA and the airlines.
