BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Led Nation in January On-Time Arrivals

For Second Straight Month, BWI Marshall Was Best in U.S.; 80.36% of Airport's Flights Arrived On-time


BWI AIRPORT, MD (March 04, 2008) - According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Statistics, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport led all major U.S. airports in January 2008 for on-time arrival of flights. In January, BWI Marshall Airport’s on-time arrival performance was 80.36%. BWI Marshall also led the nation in on-time arrivals in December 2007. According to the BTS, airline carriers reported a nationwide on-time arrival rate of 72.4% for January 2008. “BWI Marshall continues to work with our airline partners and the FAA to help ensure a positive travel experience for customers,” said Timothy L. Campbell, Executive Director of the Maryland Aviation Administration. “These flight performance statistics affirm BWI Marshall’s reputation as an efficient, convenient airport.” For the year ending December 2007, BWI Marshall led all major northeast U.S. airports for on-time arrival performance. The Airport’s final on-time arrival performance for 2007 was 77.55%. Airlines reported to the U.S. Department of Transportation an overall, national on-time arrival rate of 73.4% in 2007. According to the BTS data, BWI Marshall’s on-time departure performance for January 2008 was 80.16%, third highest among major northeast U.S. airports. The systemwide on-time departure rate for January was 76%. For 2007, BWI Marshall’s on-time departure rate was 77.68%, second highest among major northeast U.S. airports.
