MAA to Host Public Workshop Regarding Future Airport Improvement Projects

BWI AIRPORT, MD (September 02, 2008) - The Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA) will host a public workshop to provide information and solicit input regarding planned future improvement projects at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. The public forum is part of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) process to prepare a federal Environmental Assessment (EA) and Section 4(f) Determination for the planned improvement projects. The public workshop is scheduled for Thursday, September 4 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the assembly room of the MAA offices located at 991 Corporate Blvd., Linthicum. The MAA has identified the need for a number of improvement projects at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport in coming years. These projects were developed and included on the current Airport Layout Plan (ALP), which was approved by the FAA in March 2008. The EA and Section 4(f) process will allow the MAA to provide sufficient information to the FAA to support a formal environmental finding on the projects. This FAA determination is required before the planned improvement projects can take place. The forum is intended to inform the public of the proposed action and the proposed study approach.
