Flight Tests at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Scheduled for Night of June 14

Approaches to Runway 4-22 Will Be Flown By Commercial Aircraft to Prepare for September Runway Intersection Pavement Project

What: On the night of June 14, a commercial aircraft will conduct flight tests involving several operations on Runway 4-22 at BWI Marshall Airport. Runway 4-22 is infrequently used. This runway has approach and departure paths that overfly areas to the northeast of Aviation Boulevard (Linthicum, Lindale) and southwest of MD-100 (Arundel Mills area and Severn).

During the few flights, local residents may experience a temporary increase in aircraft activity.

The flight tests are part of the preparation for an airfield pavement maintenance project at BWI Marshall that will require the weekend closure of two runways at the Airport. The pavement improvement work is scheduled for the weekend of September 9-12, 2011. Should weather conditions not allow the pavement project to occur, the work would be scheduled for the following weekend (September 16-19, 2011). During the September weekend work, BWI Marshall will use Runway 4-22 for the majority of commercial flight activity.

When: Tuesday, June 14 - Late night hours, between 10:00 p.m. and midnight.

Where: BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport
