BWI Wins Best Concessions Award

Airport’s Concessions Program, BAA Maryland, and Several Individual Operators Recognized with Industry Awards
BWI AIRPORT, MD (February 28, 2006) - The concessions program at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) has been honored by Airport Revenue News with the 2006 award for Airport with the Best Concession Program. Several individual concession operators at BWI were also recognized with awards in the annual competition that highlights top retail and food programs among North American airports.

“We are honored to be recognized with this prestigious award,” said Timothy L. Campbell, A.A.E., Executive Director of the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA). “The Airport staff has worked very hard to develop a concessions program that provides a high level of services for our customers. This award affirms our goal to offer outstanding food and shopping for our passengers in a world-class airport setting.”

Campbell added, “I must acknowledge the performance of our concessions developer, BAA Maryland, and all of the individual operators. These dedicated professionals have done an excellent job in establishing the BWI AIRMALL.”

BAA Maryland secured the contract to develop and manage the BWI concessions program in March 2004. BAA Maryland is responsible for the subleasing, design, construction, tenant coordination, and management of the Airport’s food and retail program.

In addition to the overall award for Airport with the Best Concession Program, several individual BWI concession operators were recognized in the 2006 Airport Revenue News Best
Concessions Poll. Fire & Ice, Jos. A. Banks, Borders Books, and Hudson News were all singled out with their own awards in the annual competition.

Airport Revenue News is a leading publication for airport executives, concessionaires, and others involved in the aviation industry. The annual awards presented by Airport Revenue News are among the most prestigious in the airport industry.
