BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Reports July 2007 Passenger Traffic

Record 2,037,649 use BWI Marshall in July
BWI AIRPORT, MD (September 04, 2007) - Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport today announced that 2,037,649 commercial passengers flew through the Airport in July. That figure, an increase of 3.0% over July 2006, represents an all-time July record for passenger traffic at BWI Marshall. In addition, July 2007 will go down as the second-busiest month ever for BWI Marshall, second only to August 2001.

Total passengers for the 12-month period (August 2006 - July 2007) exceeded 20.7 million, which represents an increase of 1.4% compared to the equivalent prior year 12 month period.

Southwest Airlines led the way in July with 1,079,487 passengers for the month, a solid increase of 7.39%. AirTran Airways reported the largest percentage increase (20.3%) in passengers, with a total of 262,623 for the month. AirTran has recently added service to popular destinations such as Seattle, Washington and Portland, Maine. The airline has also increased service to Boston.

Total passengers for Delta Air Lines at BWI Marshall were up 16.8%. Together with its affiliate carriers, the Delta Group increased 22.8% for the month. Other carriers with strong growth in July included US Airways (7.5%) and USA 3000 (17.1%).
