The Silver Diner

new concessions program

BWI AIRPORT, MD (November 16, 2007) - Maryland-based restaurant chain The Silver Diner is set to open its first airport location this weekend in Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. The Silver Diner joins new food and retail concessions that have opened throughout the Airport in recent years by BAA Maryland, the concessions developer and manager at BWI Marshall.
“The Silver Diner is the latest in the diverse and high-level concessions that have opened here at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport,” said Timothy L. Campbell, Executive Director of the Maryland Aviation Administration. “The improved concessions program is designed to meet the needs and expectations of the traveling public. BWI Marshall works very hard to offer outstanding service to travelers in a world-class airport.”
The food and retail concessions program at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport has received critical and industry acclaim. Aviation industry publication Airport Revenue News recognized the BWI Marshall program with top honors in its 2006 and 2007 concessions competition. Just last week, Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) recognized the Obrycki’s restaurant on the Airport’s B Concourse in its annual concessions contest.
Campbell added, “The Silver Diner joins an outstanding concessions program that continues to be recognized for excellence and innovation.”
At 6,000 square feet, the Silver Diner is one of the largest restaurants in any U.S. airport. Additional Silver Diner restaurants are scheduled to open in other airports in 2008. The restaurant will feature traditional diner food in a “retro” setting.
